The Centre for School Design

Working with Ty Goddard and Ian Fordham of BCSE, Memeserver Ltd has helped to develop The Centre for School Design. The objective of this project has been to “raise the chatter level” on the subject of school design. BCSE is a well established authority on the subject of school design in the UK.

Ian and Ty wanted to think strategically about how they could increase the value of the huge bank of relevant knowledge, expertise, contacts and resources that they have accrued over many years.

The C4SD project was designed to use social media to increase that noise – but also to ensure that a high quality of signal could emerge from the process. The site was developed in partnership with Clooti – Edinburgh’s finest web-design agency.

Reboot Britain at NESTA

picamp at reboot britainHeld on July 6th 2009, Memeserver, working with Slugger Consults, convened six sessions at the Reboot Britain conference in a strand entitled PICamp’ – the political innovation camp. With over 700 attendees, PICamp sessions addressed change management issues and helped to launch ‘The Interactive Charter.’

A session led by Matthew Taylor of the RSA (and formerly of the No10 Policy Unit) led a discussion on consumer citizenship and how online applications would effect local democratic relationships. Another session addressed the ‘stalemate’ between political blogs, journalists and the political establishment and the final event of the day discussed ways that improved communicative literacy could enable local government to break out of the centralising spiral that it has been stuck in for the past 30 years.

Further PICamp events are currently being planned for Edinburgh and London.

BECTU – website roll-out support

bectu_logoThe Broadcasting and theatrical union BECTU has just launched a new site.

The project is the culmination of a number of years planning, and subject to support from BERR’s ‘Union Modernisation Fund’.

Memeserver has been employed to help to train BECTU’s activists and to ensure that the Union is maximising the opportunity afforded to it in managing a high-end website that integrates with their membership database.

Union activists are being trained in transferrable web skills, site management and the use of social media.

The Slugger Awards ’08 & ’09

Culminating in a convivial evening with over 200 attendees, the cream of Northern Ireland’s political establishment was in attendance at the presdigious W5 venue in Belfast’s Titanic Dock (2008) and at The Black Box (2009).
